A portable application is a computer program that you can take anywhere with you on a portable device and use it on any Windows computer.
When your USB flash drive, portable hard drive, iPod or other portable device is plugged into a computer, you can access your software and personal data as you would on your own PC.
It is very safe because when you unplug the device, none of your personal data is left behind.
?How to install portable application
Step 1: Make sure the "portable" version or "autonomous" to each download site. Most sites clearly label like that. Usually, this is a normal file name ending with EXE, ZIP, or PAF.EXE
* EXE files run "as is", or they self-extracts after you double-click.
* ZIP files must be extracted first. Right-click the ZIP file> "Extract All ...", or double-click it if you associate archive files with something like 7-Zip.
* If the downloaded file ends with PAF.EXE, simply double click and install it in a folder of your choice (and if you copy over the previous version of a program that removes even the former first version).
* The Other download formats generally have a special launcher (such as downloads for LiberKey). But sometimes, you choose a portable option during installation (Foobar music player comes to mind).
Step 2: It's a good idea to create a folder for your portable applications, if you have not already. I suggest creating a subfolder for each program in your laptop case or move the file folder in your existing laptop (if they allow relative paths, some do not and stop working if you move freely). Anyway, after obtaining the functional portable application, you must create a shortcut to it:
* The easiest way is to create a shortcut on a mobile launcher (or portable launcher that comes with a set of portable programs). PStart, for example, allows you to drag and drop the EXE files and automatically create a shortcut in the launcher. Whereas Type PortableApps Suite launcher automatically search the file and add PortableApps shortcuts for you after you refresh or restart the launcher (as long as you create individual folders for all your portable applications).
* Or go to your portable applications folder, right click on the main application for the portable application (usually the one with a recognizable icon and a large file), and select "Create Shortcut" or " Send to Desktop> ". Then just right click the shortcut and select "Pin to Start Menu" (Vista), or drag the shortcut to the Start menu.
Or upload your applications portable across a site online backup, such as Windows Live Skydrive, if you intend to use them on different computers.
